| In 1947 and 1948 archeological investigations were performed on the site Ledine, located above Bele Vode and spanning the area where today the playground of the Football Association „Žarkovo“ is situated. It was then that the remnants of a large Neolithic settlement were found, and several levels of settlements could be distinguished from the Vinča-Tordoš and Vinča-Pločnik phases of mid-Neolithic period. The abundance of movable archeological material - ceramics, statuettes, artifacts made from bone, remnants of rectangular houses, dug-outs for dwelling, storage pits - displays a continuous progress and development of this settlement that together with Vinča and Banjica represents a triangle where mutual cultural and economic influences were highly developed. The thickness of the cultural layer on this site is around 4.5 meters and with respect to the features of the material itself the beginning of life in this settlement can be dated somewhat later than in Vinča. The Neolithic settlement in Žarkovo, with its well-preserved cultural layer and remnants of architectural structures, represents an important site for the investigations of the Neolithic era in the Belgrade area. |

| Tоком 1947. и 1948. године вршена су археолошка истраживања на локалитету Ледине у Жаркову, који се налази изнад Белих вода. Овим истраживањима констатовани су остаци већег неолитског насеља у оквиру ког се може издвојити неколико хоризоната становања, заступљених током винчанско-тордошке и винчанско-плочничке фазе неолита. Обиље покретног археолошког материјала, керамике, статуета, артефаката од костију, остаци правоугаоних кућа, земуница за становање и јама за оставе, показује континуирани напредак и развој овог насеља. Дебљина културног слоја на овом локалитету износи око 4.5 m, а налази показују да је насеље настало касније од Винче.
Неолитско насеље у Жаркову, својим изразито очуваним културним слојем и остацима архитектонских објеката, уз Винчу и Бањицу, представља значајан локалитет за проучавање неолитског доба на територији Београда. |
