The Dimitrijević family house was built in the first half of the nineteenth century, at the time of stormy historic and social upheaval. The house was built from natural materials in timber framing. What makes it special and unique is the spatial organizations of the interior. It combines two functions: the house with hearth and chamber, economic part and the representative division for guests with the best chamber for the host”. Each of the elements can be entered separately from outside. The two organizational wholes are connected with doors and circular traffic is possible in the entire space.
This house is an example of extraordinary advancement in the culture of living when in a very short period it changed from living in one room to residing in a house with spatial organization resembling the arrangement of a European apartment.
