The journal Heritageis the brainchild of the Cultural Heritage Preservation Institute of Belgrade. It publishes and makes available to the specialist and general public the results of research into, and evaluation and conservation of structures with cultural and historical significance. It aims to promote cultural heritage, bolstering the Institute’s efforts to preserve and present it. The journal columns titled Monumental Heritage, Conservationist Approach, Lost Legacy, Critical Eyeand Reviews feature historical, archaeological, art-historical, architectural and other types of research, as well as evaluations of cultural heritage.

The first issue of the journal was published in 1997, followed by a total of eighteen further issues. The editor-in-chief is Dr Marina Pavlović, who has a PhD in art history and a BA in Architectural Engineering – Conservation. The following experts sit on its editorial board: Dr Aleksandar Kadijević, Dr Nađa Kurtović Folić, Dr Marina Nešković, Dr Igor Borozan, Dr Vesna Bikić, Saša Mihajlov, Vera Pavlović Lončarski, and Nada Živković, supported by Bojana Ibrajter Gazibara and Ana Sibinović assecretaries.

 

The Rulebook on the Publication of the Heritagejournalby the Cultural Heritage Preservation Institute of Belgrade was adopted, regulating the publication procedure for the journal;the reviewing process; evaluating and selecting submissions; the invalid submission procedure – submission correction and retraction; author responsibility; the price and distribution of the journal; the financing, editing and printing of the journal; and other issues that may arise in the journal publication process.
